NWSOC Snohomish County River Rally

The Basics

The idea of NWSOC Snohomish County River Tally is each competing team, consisting of a driver and a navigator, is given a set of written instructions which are used to follow a pre-determined course. Each team drives the course independently, at a defined interval, following the written instructions, or route instructions, exactly.

 This rally is a variety of the ‘Gimmick’ type of road rally.  While following the route instructions you must answer questions pertaining to the route and objects found along the route.   You drive the route adhering to the posted speed limit.

 The winning team’s performance is determined by the following criteria:

• Most number of questions correctly answered.
• The least difference between the time it takes your team to complete the route and the index time.

 The route instructions are provided to the competing teams just before the start of the rally.  The index time is determined by the event organizers and is not known by the participants until the rally is completed.

Event Information

• The rally takes place on Saturday May 14^th.

• The rally starts in Everett, WA (easily accessible from Interstate 5)

• The rally will end near Monroe WA (with easy return to Seattle via Hwy 522).

• The driving portion will take approximately 3 hours and cover around 100 miles.

• The rally will end at a restaurant for lunch and the winner will be announced at lunch.

• Drivers meeting will begin at 9:00 AM.

• The first car out will leave at approximately 9:15 AM

•  No special equipment or higher math skills required.  A navigator is highly recommended.

•  Driving precision, ability to read and follow directions and willingness to have fun in a car is required.

• I-5 North
• Take BROADWAY Exit (Exit 192) toward Naval Station/ Port of Everett
  This is a LEFT exit off the Interstate
  Stay in LEFT lane off exit as you exit
• Turn LEFT on to 37th St
• Turn LEFT on to Colby Ave.
• Turn LEFT on to 41st ST
• Turn RIGHT onto S 3RD AVE
• At FORK bear LEFT (becomes S 2ND AVE)
• Turn LEFT on LOWELL RIVER RD
• LEFT into Lowell Riverfront Trail Park
  

 From Bellingham and points north

• I -5 South
• Take 41^ST ST Exit (Exit 192) toward Evergreen Way
• Turn LEFT off Ramp toward BROADWAY/ LOWELL RD.
• Turn RIGHT onto S 3^RD AVE
• At FORK bear LEFT (becomes S 2^ND AVE)
• Turn LEFT on LOWELL RIVER RD
• LEFT into Lowell Riverfront Trail Park
